A customer testimonial from Ros

Ros is one of our long-standing customers here in the Dyslexia Action Shop. Hear what she has to say about her experience with the shop over the years!

Tell us a bit about yourself!

I’m Roslyn McCarthy (Ros), and I work for CReSTeD and as an assessor for a small but wonderful tuition and assessment centre (Positive Leap). I am also on the committee of the Shropshire Dyslexia Association and have been a diagnostic assessor for rather a long time; but I still love what I do. I have worked for schools in India and recently returned to a delightful school in Mysore to continue teacher training and raise awareness of SpLD.

Having replaced some testing materials that are about to be withdrawn, I bit the bullet and replaced them with a set of tests that replace many of the tests I have been using for a while. The tests I no longer need are now in Mysore where they are continuing their usefulness. I think all my testing materials were bought from the Dyslexia Action Shop!

When did you first order from the Dyslexia Action Shop?

Probably around 2004, when I was working as a Head of Learning Support. Maybe even before when I was first assessing.

What do you like best about the shop?

I can always find what I need- and I have a discount!

My order always arrives speedily and when part of a test was missing, you agreed that it should have been included and it was.

What do you typically buy in the shop?

Assessment materials.

Do you have a favourite or preferred product in the shop?

It took me a while to get my head around the TOD (Tests of Dyslexia), but I love it! It gives me a huge amount of information and tests are blissfully short. I think that if I am bored by a test it will also be tedious for the ‘assessee’.

I thought about retiring when my well-known tests were becoming tired, but I am still learning and enjoying new test materials, so I’m not tired!

The day I think I know it all will be the day I retire- not yet.

How has the product(s) helped you in your school/setting/private practice?

Kept my enthusiasm and kept me learning.

The shop is turning 30 this year! What do you hope to see from the shop in the future?

More new products! I saw a brilliant new resource for teaching French (always difficult for dyslexic students) when I was in India. I would love to see it make it to the shop!

Are there any other comments you’d like to share?

Keep up the great new products, the efficiency and the discount please!
