REAL TRAINING NEWS

Senior Mental Health Lead Courses

The DfE has created new quality criteria for Senior Mental Health Lead training courses, and these criteria help define this important senior role in schools. While many schools and colleges already have a mental health lead, the knowledge and skills they have vary, and with mental health and wellbeing a top priority for all educational settings, the goal is to provide senior leads with the latest thinking and access to a network of peers and experts they need to lead change and develop or introduce a whole-school approach to wellbeing and mental health.

With Real Training your school has a choice of an introductory Certificate course and an Advanced Award in Senior Mental Health Leadership which have both been successfully quality assured through a robust DfE process. These courses can be fully or partially funded for state schools and colleges in England by a DfE grant.

Senior Mental Health Leadership Certificate (SMHLC) – aimed at those who are new to a Senior Mental Health Leadership role or are aspiring to become a leader in this area.

Senior Mental Health Leadership – Advanced Award (SMHLAA) – aimed at those who have some experience in the role, and have some existing training in mental health leadership.

Please visit the individual course pages for information on course delivery, eligibility, costs, cohort start dates and information on applying for DfE funding.

Take psychometric testing to the next level with a gold standard qualification

Our Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (CCET) is an open-access course, meaning to be eligible to enrol, you only need to be working in or have access to an educational setting, and have access to psychometric tests for the duration of study.

CCET allows schools to bring expertise in psychometric testing to assess children and determine their strengths and specific learning needs ‘in-school’, and in turn allows schools to work more effectively with their educational psychologist and make better use of their time and resources.

With our CCET qualification, among other things, you will be able to identify, administer and analyse tests within an educational environment, understand how to write and interpret reports, understand the legislative and policy framework, as well as being able to identify and overcome barriers to learning. Other benefits to the school include:

Access to a wealth of practical resources, academic research and interactive materials

Access to discounted educational tests and other resources through the Dyslexia Action Shop

Development of effective support for the most vulnerable children in your school.

We hope you enjoy your XMAS break and if you do need resources we are fully operational for orders and deliveries during this period.
