International Youth Day

We are pleased to celebrate International Youth Day! Falling on 12 August each year, this day is an initiative that celebrates the qualities of young people and recognises the challenges that today’s youth can face.

International Youth Day began in 2000 and was organised by the United Nations to celebrate the contribution that young people make in education, employment, conflict resolution, and social justice.

The theme for International Youth Day 2025 is ‘Youth Empowerment for a Sustainable Future,’ with the slogan ‘Empowering Youth, Building Tomorrow.’

Our shop offers a variety of resources designed to empower young learners and help them make a positive impact on whatever inspires them. Check them out below and see if there’s anything that could help you in your setting or in your practice.

C-Pen Exam Reader 2

The C-Pen Exam Reader 2 is designed to help learners with their exams, so they can sit them independently and confidently. The pen scans written text and then reads it aloud to the learner, helping them to understand the questions in the exam. This allows learners to take charge of their exam experience and get the grades they truly deserve!

Test of Retrieval Efficiency (TORE)

The new and innovative Test of Retrieval Efficiency (TORE) has been designed specifically for the 13-18 age bracket, and for use in exam access arrangements.

This helps you to support young people by discovering how they can retrieve simple information from memory, as well as maximising your and their time, as you can deliver the test to groups of learners in one session.

It is also accessible to learners with English as an additional language, as it doesn’t require them to verbalise the answer.

6 Language Development Board Games

These Language Development Board Games are designed for 7-11 year old learners, but are also excellent for older teenagers with learning disabilities or English as an additional language, as they help young people discover new words and empower them by expanding their vocabulary.

Learners can play and enjoy a fun game, without it feeling like they are in an ‘intervention.’

Coming in a pack of 6, there’s enough for everyone to play!

The Dyslexia Club

For pre-teens who may be dyslexic and looking to see themselves and their abilities represented, The Dyslexia Club introduces them to a range of children who talk about their dyslexia, what special talents they have, which helps young people to feel inspired about their differences.

If you have learners with dyslexia, they are certain to enjoy this book!

Feeling inspired? We have an even wider range of other resources and interventions in the shop! Take a look now!
