With the new term on the horizon, there has never been a better time to start thinking about your assessment kit, and how you could improve it this September!
Here at the shop we are pleased to bring educational professionals and private practitioners like you the latest assessment tests, books and resources.
For those working in schools this September, we have a range of new assessments which will better help you understand your learners’ needs, allowing you to create a supportive learning environment for them, and for those in a secondary setting, also assist in access arrangements!
And for those of you who are private practitioners or assessors, then we’ve got all you need to enhance your private practice and support your clients!
CAS-2
The Cognitive Assessment System-Second Edition (CAS-2) is a norm-referenced measure of cognitive ability based on the cognitive/neuropsychological theory called PASS (Planning, Attention, Simultaneous, and Successive).
Recently launched in the shop, this new product provides practitioners with a valid and reliable tool to evaluate children's strengths and weaknesses in important areas of cognitive processing.
Designed for ages 5-18 years, this assessment takes 40 to 60 minutes to run and is administered individually, so you can get an in-depth profile of a learner.
EVT-3
The Expressive Vocabulary Test, Third Edition (EVT-3) is one of the latest additions to the shop!
This is a norm-referenced and individually administered test of expressive vocabulary and word retrieval based on words. The benefits of this test is that it allows the assessor to measure expressive vocabulary acquisition, contribute useful information when assessing expressive vocabulary, as part of a language evaluation, across the lifespan. It also contributes useful information when screening or assessing strengths and weaknesses in the specific domain of semantics and general area of language development.
If you are familiar with EVT-2, EVT-3 maintains the basic format and qualities, such as parallel forms, stimulus questions, easy administration and response capture, accurate scoring, with additional upgrades.
The completion time of this test is 10 to 15 minutes, and is suitable for ages 2 to 90 years.
TORE
We cannot stop shouting about the innovative new Test of Retrieval Efficiency (TORE)! Written and developed by the authors Anna Smith, Louise van der Valk and Sophia Butler, this assessment allows you to assess a learner’s ability to recall simple information from long-term memory.
You can administer TORE to a group of learners in one sitting, making it ideal for the classroom setting, as it is less disruptive to pupils and allows you to maximise your time.
If you have been thinking about whether or not to take the plunge and order TORE, now is the ideal time coinciding with the new term.
TOD
If your role includes dyslexia assessing, and you would like to condense your assessment battery into one kit, then we recommend the Tests of Dyslexia (TOD). It is the first comprehensive assessment of dyslexia, eliminating the need to use tests from different assessments.
This particular assessment covers a wide age range and includes all the major components needed for a comprehensive dyslexia assessment. It has features such as rating scales to help standardise the process of collecting information from parents, teachers or individuals being assessed.
It also includes a guide to interventions to help you develop an instructional plan for learners, and can be used by a variety of clinicians and educators.
With free UK delivery when you spend over £150, now is the perfect time to bring in a new assessment to truly revolutionise your practice!
