October marks Dyslexia Awareness Month, with Dyslexia Awareness Week running 6-12th October, and Dyslexia Awareness Day falling on the 8th October!
With so much going on this month, now is the perfect time to think about your kit of assessments or your range of resources, or even discover some new books to read!
Assessments
If you are a dyslexia assessor, have you tried the Tests of Dyslexia (TOD) yet? TOD is the first comprehensive assessment of dyslexia, eliminating the need to use tests from different assessments. Linking dyslexia assessment to targeted interventions has never been more efficient and effective!
Books
We've currently got a fantastic selection of dyslexia-focused books available in the shop!
This book contains a raw, honest and enlightening collection of experiences, across the black and dyslexic community, giving an intersectional perspective on topics including the education system, the workplace, daily life and entrepreneurship.
If you have a young person with dyslexia, this fun and inspiring book will introduce them to a group of children who talk about their strengths, and demonstrates to young people how they can help themselves and how adults can help them.
This is a guide developed to assist you in supporting children and young people with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties throughout their education. Specifically designed for those on Level 5 courses in dyslexia and specific learning difficulties, this is the perfect training companion for those wanting to know more about dyslexia and how to support them.
This guide for teachers demystifies and disentangles different types of literacy difficulty, and explains how they can impact the child's day-to-day classroom functioning and general school life.
The Parent’s Guide to Understanding and Supporting Your Child with Literacy Difficulties
Supporting a child with literacy difficulties doesn't end at the school gates! This guide is for parents and is designed to help you understand how your child’s difficulties may affect them in a home setting.
